When I decided to do my Wednesday band streams, Trinity was the first band to be booked. This trio is truly one of the cornerstones of my musical life. We’ve been playing together for more than 15 years and released 4 albums so far. Due to corona we havne’t played together since October so this was a welcome reunion in that sense as well.
We started out as we often do, with “On the sunny side of the street”. This is a song that has been in the repertoire all from the start. Though we forgot about it for a few year but then we brought it back and it’s also featured on our latest album “Nuages”.
One of the newer songs in the repertoire is “Out of nowhere”. We started playing it last year in a more latin way than usual. Also a fun song, this time with a drum solo.
For the recording of Nuages, we decided also to play Hoagy Carmichael’s beautiful ballad Skylark. I sat down one day and came up with some reharmonizations. Take a listen and you’ll hear.
We also played my song “Philosophical Sunday Walk”. Suitable for these times I think. There has probably been more such sunday walk durig corona than ever before.
A fast song is always needed, here “Eel annod”. As you may see the title is Donna Lee spelled backwards and the melody is Donna Lee played upside down. A fun twist I think!
Moon river is one of those songs where the music just turns into being. Suddenly the music just floats around you in the room and you become part of it. Always love playing this song. So beautiful.
With very few exceptions, all our concerts has ended with “The preacher” and this one was no exception. A great way to end the show with some fireworks from all instruments.
As an encore, we played “The summer knows”, theme song from The Summer of ’42. Beautiful dramatic melody and a great vehicle for showcasing all the dynmic capabilities of this trio.
