When I booked my “Jazz at the HQ” series, I wanted first and foremost to present the bands that I have played with the most and who are closest to heart. I call them the cornerstones of my musical life. Arnesen bluesband is certainly one of them. Arnesen drafted me for a band he was starting almost 20 years ago. I didn’t know him at the time and it was one of the first times an older pro musician had asked me to play with him. The beauty of having played in a band for so long is that you pretty much know each other in and out and you know that once you get up on stage and start playing, it’s going to be great. Especially in these times of corona it was nice to get together and play since it hasn’t been much of that lately.
The repertoire of this evening consists of some songs that we’ve been plying all years, as well as some that came into the repertoire just earlier this year. Most of them in English but one also in Swedish. Some are Thomas’ own compositions and some of them blues and jazz standards.
