Eyþór Ingi & Andreas Hellkvist
Óháði söfnuðurinn, Reykjavik
May 18, 2025, 8:00 pm
Eythor Ingi and Andreas Hellkvist in concert with a repertoire of rock, , Soul , blues and some other songs, with the beautiful black Hammond organ of Ohada church at the center. A truly unique opportunity to see these two artists perform together for the first time. It has been long time in the making. In 2020 Andreas was supposed to play with Eythor on a Classic Rock concert here in Reykjavik, that was cancelled due to covid. But now, after 5 five long years, it is finally happening! This time it’s just the two of them, which provides even more space for both to play out their whole register. The one of a kind black Hammond organ in the hands od Andreas and vocals from Eythor will take center stage – but Eythor will also pick up a few instruments throughout the evening to spice up the soundscape. After the show, Andreas will host a short Q&A about the organ and the art of playing an Hammond Organ. A fun and heartfelt evening filled with musical joy and good vibes – and we truly want you to be a part of it. So don’t miss this one! Andreas Hellkvist is one of Sweden’s (and maybe Europe’s) most versatile Hammond organ players. This year of 2025 marks his 30th anniversary with the instrument, and looking back at his career, his musical explorations comprises a vast amount of collaborations, stylistic variations, compositions and innovations of his own. He regularly performs at jazz, blues, gospel and funk concerts, with various bands, backing artists or as a soloist himself. During the pandemic he did streamed solo concerts, that was followed by audiences all around the world. Once rooted in the soul jazz tradition, over the years he has expanded his horizons significantly. He has developed a playing style of his own, and his technical mastery of the instrument, relentless groove and playful approach leaves few in the audience untouched. Last year he released two albums – Orgelparty Pop Edition, with is a continuation of his streams with a light hearted but groovy and virtuoso appoach to pop music, from the 60s to 90s. The other one is called Quadraphonic, which can be decscribed as his biggest and most ambitiuous project so far. The organ is played through 4(!) leslie cabinets which can be controlled individually through various effects and techincal innovations. New soundscapes arise when the notes bounce around in the room, and the room itself becomes part of the instrument. A world unique project and an experience for all senses. It has been issued both in stereo and Dolby Atmos, both digitally and on physical media.
