The story of this gig is quite remarkable. It started out at Trinity’s release concert of Stable Mates at Ktvå, Uppsala in nov of 2023. In the intermission we learned that there were two guys in the audience who had come all the way from Germany to see us. They had originally planned to go and see the Stockholm release concert but also went to Uppsala the night before. We started talking and they were, of course, Hammond enthusiasts. One of them, Jan, from the Berlin area and the other, René, from Hannover. And he was also involved with the Hannover Jazz Club. So we started talking about Trinity coming to Hannover. And it took a while, but finally we got there! I played Rene´s XK5 on both our gigs so it was so convenient from what I am used to!
Jazz Club Hannover is really a place with a lot of history. All the greats have played there, so it felt really special, and actually I was a little more nervous than I usually get. But when you just start playing it goes away of course. I did my German presentations here as well, and they worked like a charm. I also had time to practice the pronounciation a little more which helped. One expression that really got people laughing was when I introduced Caravan, the last song before the intermission. In English I wrote – “since this is the last song before the intermission, we’ll take it up a notch” and it was translated to “wir legen nochmal eine Schippe drauf”. And it seemed to really hit the spot!
All in all, such a fun trip and great concerts! Hope to come back soon!
Photographer Helmut Dobratz was seated in the first row and took some great pictures. Check them out!
