When I was in Latvia earlier this year I heard an amazing story about Hammond organs being built on license in Latvia in the late 1930s, in the short period of time between the worl wars when Latvia was independent. Apparently there were 9 organ built, and only one survived World War II and the subsequent Soviet occupation. So immediately I knew I wanted to try this organ, and now I got to do it! I flew from Stockholm to Riga in the morning and then jumped on a bus to Liepaja. The organ, a Hammond BC, sits in the Lutheran church there. I got about an hour to play it and record some stuff.
