What a party, what a concert! I had been looking forward to this day for a long time, and as always, when the day finally arrives, it passes way too quick. But after having digested it all for a few days and going through the material, I can say there were a lot of awesome moments. The concert itself had a really interesting structure. In consisted of 4 separate parts, each one representing a different part of my musical life. I started by myself doing quadraphonic, then Ola Bothzén joined me for the release concert of Orgelparty Pop Edition II. In the 3rd part Leo Lindberg sat down at the other organ and we did the premiere of Double Organ Madness. And then finally for the fourth part, of course with 4 people, Small Town Orchestra entered the stage to finish the concert.
There were two organs on stage, and the combination of the two was really interesting as well. To the left was my new Hammond XK7, the newest organ in my collection. And to the right was my A100, the first tonewheel organ I ever owned. The A100 got a service earlier this year and feels more vital than it has in a long time. It was so nice to play it again!
Part I – Quadraphonic
The concert started with a few selected songs from my Quadraphonic project. I had the XK7 and two leslies on stage, and the 2 other leslies were in the back of the room. I did a few of the delay based songs, and of course also Starry Night, that has become the hit songs from the album.
Part II – Orgelparty Pop Edition
This was the release concert for our new record, Orgelparty Pop Edition II. I had the vinyls delivered, fresh from the presing plant in Copenhagen, just the day before the concert. For this part I switched organs and used the A100. It’s new punchy sound fit the duo perfectly.
Part III – Double Organ Madness
This was the concert premiere for the project Double Organ Madness, that originated at a live streamed concert from the HQ five years ago. It features two organs and drums. We take turns playing the bass, and just have a lof of fun!
Part IV – Small Town Orchestra
The final act was the Swedish-Nowegian band Small Town Orchestra. It is almost exactly 10 years ago I played with Hans Bollandsås for the first time, and we have been collaboration in vaious ways since then. Since a few years, this has resulted in Small Town Orchestra, featering also Helene Misund on vocals and Ola Bothzén on drums.
